PROGRAMS
In-person tutoring sessions can be accommodated to students residing in Brampton, Caledon, Vaughan, and Tottenham.
The language program is based on the Ontario Language Arts Curriculum (2023) and can be broken down into three categories:
Foundations of Language: Students will acquire knowledge based on the foundations of language. The focus is on oral and non-verbal communication, word reading and spelling, vocabulary, fluency, and language conventions.
Comprehension: Understanding and Responding to Texts: Students will draw on their prior knowledge and acquire strategies to critically think about the meaning of a text and respond accordingly.
Composition: Expressing Ideas and Creating Texts: Students learn to express their ideas and create texts in various forms to plan, research, draft, revise, edit, proofread, publish, and share their texts.
The mathematics program is based on the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum (2020) and works to help students in applying mathematical processes to solve problems. The mathematical processes are as follows:
Problem-solving
Reasoning and proving
Reflecting
Connecting
Communicating
Representing
Selecting tools and strategies
These processes will be highlighted to support students with any subject concerns they may have. We support the notion that there are multiple pathways to achieving a solution and work with the student to uncover the strategies that work for them. When students can reflect on their work to see multiple forms of representation and/or communication to solve a problem, they feel empowered in their learning.
Stuck at the table doing homework for hours each night? This program offers support for students' academic attainment to understand what they are doing, and why they are doing it. It has been proven that when students are provided with meaning as to why they are learning something, they are more likely to make connections and apply this learning to the world around them.
This program is designed to...
Review concepts from the most recent year.
Provide fun and dynamic challenges to keep the brain active during the summer months.
Prepare for the upcoming academic school year.
Boost cognitive, time-management, organizational, and study skills.
"It's summer break, why would I want to practice school?"
Tutoring in the summer is proven to maintain academic progress, strengthen areas of difficulty, build confidence, and provide individualized support to prepare students for the next grade. This is inclusive to ALL students who either need additional support or who want to further develop and challenge their skills and knowledge.
P R A C T I C E
Summer tutoring provides the opportunity to review academic content from the previous year and address any difficult concepts. In doing so, students will build a strong foundation for the upcoming academic year. This helps to bridge the gap between school years and ensure that the student retains the knowledge they acquired during the previous year to advance them in the years to come.
P R E P A R E
Summer tutoring offers support not only on specific curriculum concepts, but also on developing essential organizational, time-management, and study skills. Through an individualized approach, the tutor and student work together to set and achieve attainable goals in a safe and encouraging environment. This will prepare them with skills and knowledge for the upcoming school year feeling confident in their abilities and progress.
P R O G R E S S
Summer tutoring helps boost a student's confidence and motivation. By addressing areas of concern and having the opportunity to practice at a speed suitable for you, students can experience self-fulfilment as they work toward achieving their academic goals.
Without the constraints of a regular school day, we can establish a time for sessions that works for you while accommodating summer activities or vacations.
All programs and tutoring sessions revolve around individualism, goal-oriented lessons, and motivational rewards suited for your child to...
1) Increase their intrinsic motivation
2) Boost self-confidence
3) Achieve success
It is when students feel empowered, they become most engaged in their learning, thus attaining their goals, building confidence, and striving to continue for excellence.
All programs provide the opportunity for students to reflect on and identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and the strategies they found most helpful each session. Self-reflection is a valuable skill to develop and will help students increase their awareness of overall progress, identify any barriers to achieving their goals, and shape future actions.
